2nd Single Room, Jay, now available See "News & Offers"
Nestling in the North Devon hills just 3 miles from Combe Martin, and bordered to the east by Exmoor National Park, lies the rural village of Kentisbury. It is here that you will receive a warm welcome from Gail and Jim Evans in their home, Kentisbury Mill. Originally a Devon cottage built around 1750, it had a small corn mill added in the 1790’s, and the building was extended further in the 1920’s. Gail and Jim bought the Mill in April 2007 and undertook major renovations, including central heating and en-suites to all bedrooms. Care has been taken to keep, and restore, as much of the original features and character as possible. You will be welcomed with tea and coffee on arrival and be offered a choice of breakfast using locally sourced produce which is freshly cooked to order using our Aga.
There is a cosy guest lounge with warming fire for those winter evenings, and a variety of books, and games. Internet access for your laptop is available in all rooms.
Kentisbury Mill sits in gardens of around two acres, starting at the diverted mill leat at the top with gently sloping lawns down to the pond and babbling Exmoor stream. It is here that guests can use our summer house and enjoy the tranquillity and wildlife. Why not enjoy a cream tea there in the summer months?
The Mill has ample private parking. A short stroll away you will find the local post office and general store, selling newspapers and basic provisions.
Unfortunately we do not accept pets in the house (guide dogs by prior arrangement) but they may sleep in their owners car and enjoy our grounds as long as dogs are kept on a lead as we have free range chickens. Alternatively we can highly recommend Lakeside Boarding Kennels and Cattery at Lee near Ilfracombe whom we use for our dog, Willow. We would be pleased to book for you.
